Libby MacFarlane hails from a small town in Minnesota and grew up listening to Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt, Van Morrison, Elton John and Patty Griffin. Her passion for music was rooted in her love of singing and deep desire to write.
She didn’t fully let herself lean into songwriting until she was 28 years old when she applied for a songwriting workshop at Esalen with John Smith. She stepped into the deep vulnerable fear of creating – and with the beautiful backdrop of Big Sur, CA she wrote her first songs.
Her songwriting journey continued when she started graduate school in Durham, North Carolina where she serendipitously found songwriter/producer/multi-instrumentalist Django Haskins on a neighborhood listserv. Guitar lessons soon transitioned to friendship and songwriting collaborations for years to come.
Libby currently resides in Jamestown, RI with her wife (Kristy), daughter (Sig) and cat (Little Dude).
